The owner and founder of Professional Movers Ltd is Don Lisle. Don is from a NZ farming background. He is married with five children; his wife is a practising medical doctor. Don came to Auckland in 1996 with his family. He bought a two ton moving truck and worked as an owner driver for other moving companies. He noted the lack of communication which led to poor service. He also recognised that the industry lacked any objective standards or training scheme. With these problems in mind Don decided to go out on his own. He founded Professional Movers Ltd in 2001. The very name 'Professional Movers' suggests an important part of Don's philosophy - he wants to play his part in making the industry more professional. Since 2001 the single two ton truck has become eleven trucks of varying sizes. Don has the right truck for each job. He recognises that a company cannot provide a professional service without the right gear. The trucks are equipped with Global Positioning Systems which enable the progress and location of each vehicle to be known at all times. This means in practice that he can tell a client exactly how long the travel time will be and when to expect the truck. Don makes the best use of modern technology in his quest to provide the best possible service. Don also wishes to do the best for his staff in terms of training. He has written a manual of staff training covering techniques for moving goods. This could provide a base for a nation-wide training scheme. He is presently seeking NZQA approval for a training course based on the manual. To encourage staff to be stable, Don offers an incentive scheme for those undertaking training. Professional Movers fleet includes: One small truck that is used to ferry goods from houses which have poor or difficult access to the larger truck loading away from the house, or unloading as the case may be.
